Cute Maternity Styles for the Summer

Cute Maternity Styles for the SummerDuring pregnancy many women struggle with self-confidence as their bodies grow and their clothes begin shrink. Finding the right clothes to fit your figure that are both comfortable and cute can seem hard to find. Choosing the comfy route is not necessarily the wrong choice because after all, wearing clothes that fit you comfortably is extremely important during your pregnancy. Wearing tight and restricting clothing is definitely something to avoid. But if you’re sweats and yoga pants are always your go to outfits than there is no wonder why you feel uneasy in a pair of jeans and a tank top.

First things first, learn to love and show off your growing belly! That baby in there is definitely something to be excited about and dressing your baby bump can be fun! Put down the sweats and baggy clothes that make you look bigger than what you really are, and dress yourself to feel beautiful and confident! Have fun with your pregnancy and embrace your beautiful growing body while you try out some of our must-have outfits and accessories for your maternity this summer!

Dresses and Skirts

Dresses and skirts are always something fun to wear in the summer, and they are even better when you’re pregnant! Dresses and skirts allow you to breathe and they are not restricting and your legs are free. Especially during those hot and sticky summer months you might begin to notice you feel a little warmer now that you’re carrying. These fashion favorites will keep you cool and they will also fit and look super cute with your baby bump! Try to find dresses that have an empire waist band to accentuate your bump and show off your figure. Maxi dresses, maxi skirts, midi skirts, and t-shirt dresses are perfect picks for this summer.

Belts

Belts are great accessories to pair with loose dresses, skirts, tunics, and cardigans to give you a little shape and highlight your baby bump. They are also great when you’re trying to create that empire waist look like we talked about above.  Try tying together with a skirt above your belly or below your belly with a tight tee will add some extra flare to your wardrobe. Nothing is better than having fun with your clothes! Belts do more than show off your cute pregnant figure, but they can also be tied and layered to create that fashion pop you want in your everyday style. For the summer try an assortment of colors. Neutral colors are always great, but don’t be afraid to be bold and try different prints or fun pastel and neon colors too. You can wear these looks even after your pregnancy as well!

Vests

A vest is an awesome accessory that can be worn during any season and with almost every outfit. For the summer try something light like a plain jean vest. The simplicity of the jean vest will work great over a maxi dress or paired with a cute top and shorts. If you’re feeling a little more daring then try a vest that has a little color or texture. Fur vests were such a hit in the fall and winter, but who said they can’t be rocked on those cool summer days?

Kimonos/Shawls

Light and airy kimonos and shawls will be your favorite pick for summer. Both of these picks are great for layering tanks and tops under because they are flowy and comfortable. Stay away from shawls that are too thick because they will be too hot and heavy in the heat. Belts look great with these two, but if you’re looking for a comfort you won’t go wrong with throwing on one of these with a simple tee!

Leggings/JeggingsCute Maternity Styles for the Summer

Leggings and jeggings are comfortable and easy when you’re trying to pull something together fast. They can be worn with every single accessory above, and on those lazy days they will be an upgrade from your yoga pants and sweats. Comfort is your number one priority while you’re pregnant and matching any top with a pair of leggings will keep you cool while giving you the ability to move around the way you’d like. This summer try out the basic black leggings for a simple every day look or try something a little out of your comfort zone and have some fun with a tribal or animal print jegging! Maternity Fashion: Celebrity Baby Bumps We Adore

Celebrity mamas are known for their impeccable maternity fashion.  We love following our favorite Hollywood starlets throughout their pregnancies to see how they’re showing off their baby bumps.  Today we’re sharing some fabulous looks from three Leading Mamas who really know how to put together a maternity outfit.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Congrats to new mama Jennifer who gave birth to her first baby girl Autumn James in November 2013!  Jennifer’s classic maternity fashion makes her casual and chic looks easy to replicate.

A blazer is a terrific look for almost any body shape, including one with a baby bump.  And fortunately, no additional shopping is required.  Just forget the button and wear an open-front blazer with a maternity t-shirt and jeans for a super stylish dress-up or dress-down look.  We love Jennifer’s fuchsia blazer with snug maternity jeans.  She looks casual, comfortable and on trend, pregnant or not.

We also love Jennifer’s sleek black dress that she wore on the Pampers carpet.  This flattering style shows off Jennifer’s baby bump and her other beautiful curves.  The ruched sides give the dress a unique flare.  The mid-calf length is perfect for anyone who may want to cover up veins that sometimes pop out during pregnancy.  Her shoes are stylish yet sensible, offering extra ankle support as she walks the carpet.

Kate Winslet

Kate is known for her stunning red carpet appearances, from movie premieres to awards shows.  Even during her third pregnancy, Kate kept up her signature look.

Everyone looks great in black and pregnant women are no exception.   Black ensembles make the belly pop and create a slimming look for the rest of the body, something many pregnant women appreciate.  Kate’s chic and trendy all-black outfit was a knock-out at a press junket for her recent movie, aptly named Labor Day.  Her long maternity top works nicely over her black jeans, and could also work with maternity leggings.  Her open-front blazer with cropped sleeves is sophisticated and forms a clean line.  The simple necklace and loosely swept up-do complete this look beautifully.

Kate’s awards show elegance is second to none.  She looks absolutely radiant in a red gown at the Labor Day premiere.  The shimmery fabric mirrors Kate’s beautiful glow, and the short, pleated sleeves and plunging neckline are extremely flattering for her figure.  Empire-waist tops and dresses are a wise choice for pregnancy.  Kate’s gown falls flawlessly over her baby bump, and the red jeweled embellishments make for a gorgeous finishing touch.  Stunning, as usual, Kate

Morena Baccarin

Homeland star Morena Baccarin was walking the red carpet through her ninth month of pregnancy!  She welcomed baby boy Julius in late October 2013.  Glowing from head-to-toe, Morena’s maternity fashion makes her a stand-out new mama fashionista.

A walnut brown, form-fitting maternity dress has an attractive sheen that looked spectacular against her olive skin-tone and dark hair.  The low v-cut, dazzling sequins and sleeveless top of the dress makes it unique and flattering.  And we’re highly impressed with Morena’s ability to walk in her Cinderella-esque stiletto heels.

We love Morena in a bubble gum pink knee-length dress makes her pop on the carpet.  Well, that and her adorable baby bump.  The contrasting shiny side panels create a fun triangular design that sits atop her bump and draws in her waist.  Again, Morena shows her love of beautiful shoes in these glittery silver heels.  Congrats on your new bundle of joy, Morena!

Celebrity Parents Show Support at Baby2Baby’s 2nd Annual Gala Event

Celebrity Parents Show Support at Baby2Baby's 2nd Annual Gala EventOn Saturday, November 9th some of Hollywood’s most well-known moms and dads attended the second annual Baby2Baby Gala. Baby2Baby is a Los Angeles-based charity that collects new and gently worn baby clothes, toys, and other essentials and distributes them to needy families around the greater L.A. area. This year’s Gala was held in honor of Drew Barrymore, who recently announced her second pregnancy with husband Will Kopelman. Celebrity moms like Rachel Zoe, Jessica Alba, Nicole Ritchie, Jaime King not only came out to the silent auction to help raise money for distressed families, but Ritchie and Alba also serve as board members for the foundation. Alba’s company, The Honest Company, is a sponsor of Baby2Baby.

Baby2Baby was founded in 2006 by Kelly Patricof and Norah Weinstein who now serve as co-presidents of the foundation. According the official website, “Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children up to age 12. By distributing new and gently used items to over 50 non-profit organizations, including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs and hospitals, Baby2Baby serves over 67,000 children each year.” Patricof and Weinstein’s first Baby2Baby gala, which featured a catered dinner prepared by famous chefs and a silent auction, successfully raised $1 million dollars. Hopefully this year’s gala exceeded the funds raised last year so more children can benefit from the foundation in 2014. Judging by the amount of celebrities who attended Saturday’s soiree, there’s a good chance that Baby2Baby will be able to expand their circle of partners and help more families in need!

It’s always heart-warming to see celebrities dedicate time and effort for important causes. Even though we’re not all big screen actors and actresses, many famous people are still moms and dads, first and foremost, and get involved because they know how crucial it is that babies and children have access to the basic necessities. Thanks to all those who attended the second annual gala, keep up the philanthropy!

Visit Baby2Baby’s official website if you’d like more information about donation services.
