Olivia Wilde Takes Her Baby to Work

olvia wilde_glamourGlamour Magazine’s September cover girl is none other than chic and stylish new mom Olivia Wilde.  Not only does she look stunning in her cover image and throughout the issue, but she also poses while breastfeeding her 3-month old baby Otis.  And we just had to share this beautiful Loving Moment between mother and son.

Otis is Olivia’s first child with her fiancé Jason Sudeikis.  Olivia says she loves every moment of being a mom and motherhood has quickly become an important part of her who she is.

Like many other working moms, Olivia took time out during her shoot to feed baby Otis.  During her interview she said, “Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother…Breastfeeding is the most natural thing…now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast.”

In her interview she talks about her decision to start a family and encourages women not to bow to the pressure of their age and other external factors.  Motherhood has been a natural evolution for her as a woman and a professional.  As someone in the public eye, she wondered if the media industry would hinder her image as she made personal changes in her life.  But ultimately she has no regrets about her past and is thrilled to add a new role to her repertoire: mom.

We champion moms like Olivia who are doing what comes natural for them and their babies, and providing the best nutrition through breast milk.  We may not all do it in Robert Cavalli dresses and Prada shoes (admittedly that is not how she usually looks either), but we can all make excellent choices for the health of our babies and ourselves.

Traditional baby names are definitely in style this spring, because you don’t hear the name Otis Alexander too often! The engaged pair welcomed their first son this past Easter. Proving she retained her sense of humor during delivery, Olivia tweeted from the hospital “Ladies and Gentlemen, Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building (I’m the building).” We’ll miss Olivia’s glamorous pregnancy style but look forward to her little one’s chic ensembles to come!

Kerry Washington’s Pregnancy Will Not be Featured on Scandal Season Three

Kerry Washington

Scandal fans take note—ABC recently cut 4 episodes from season 3’s line-up. The original season plan included 22 episodes, but with star Kerry Washington’s recent pregnancy announcement, there’s speculation that those final four episodes coincide too closely with Kerry’s delivery date.

Kerry Washington portrays Scandal’s Olivia Pope, the wildly popular and stylish crisis management expert both critics and fans adore. Kerry is an Emmy-nominated actress who married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in June 2013. She first announced her  pregnancy at the end of October.

Shonda Rhimes (creator of Scandal and other successful television shows like Grey’s Anatomy) and her team have decided not to integrate Kerry’s real-life pregnancy into her character Olivia’s storyline.

Scandal’s costume department will have to take advantage of trench coats and looser blouses to accommodate Kerry’s pregnancy while filming. Season two of Scandal ends May 16th, 2013 (we’re approaching the mid-season break now!) so filming schedules will undoubtedly be changed to fast-track new episodes while Washington is still in the early stages of her pregnancy.

Fans will be sure to enjoy Scandal’s third season, even if it means less episodes. Who knows? Shonda Rhimes and co. will probably amplify the drama and suspense in the next 18 episodes to keep us on the edge of our seats!

Celebrity Babies: Celebrity Baby Clothing Lines

Let’s face it, celebrity babies probably have a few advantages over the rest of our babies.  For starters, most of them have a fabulous wardrobe.  Yes, when all of your parents’ friends are rich and famous, you are bound to get some very trendy, expensive baby clothes as gifts.  But when your parents are also style icons, you will surely to be on the best-dressed baby list time-after-time.

Many famous mamas are using their own senses of style to make all of our kids a bit more fashionable.  The latest trend in Hollywood motherhood is a celebrity baby clothing line.  Check out these awesome lines from some of our favorite designer moms:

Truly Scrumptious_Heidi Klum

Truly Scrumptious by Heidi Klum

Heidi takes her passion for fashion from the runway to the nursery with this whimsical line of baby and toddler clothes, bedding, nursery décor and more, sold exclusively at Babies R Us.  Her signature monster-like faces make her collections fun, funny and fantastic for kids.

The Little Seed by Soleil Moon Frye

From beloved child star to lover of all things children, Soleil and her business partner Paige Goldberg started this über earthy, eco-friendly and organic infant and childrens’ clothing line.  Coined “green in every color,” their designs feature simple yet brightly-colored, soft printed organic bodysuits, shirts, dresses, sweat suits, pants and more.

Little Maven by Tori Spelling

With four little ones of her own, Tori knows a thing or two about kids clothes.  Her line, sold at JCPenny, is chic, modern and combines bright colors with interesting patterns and textures.  Yup, we’re talkin’ blazers, ties and pocket squares for boys, and fringe, fur vests and hip skirts for girls.  How adorably sophisticated!

Harajuku Mini for Target by Gwen Stefani

Just like her, Gwen’s new baby and children’s clothing line at Target rocks.  Her influence is undeniable, with lots of bold black and white prints, pops of pink and just the perfect amount of adorable, yet edgy, details.   We’re pretty sure Gwen’s bringing the punk look back, one baby at a time.

We applaud these celebrity moms for their impeccable designs and creativity.  We thank them for sharing their talents with the rest of us, and our kids.  We may not all have celebrity babies, but at least our little stars can dress like them, too!

Celebrity Parents Show Support at Baby2Baby’s 2nd Annual Gala Event

Celebrity Parents Show Support at Baby2Baby's 2nd Annual Gala EventOn Saturday, November 9th some of Hollywood’s most well-known moms and dads attended the second annual Baby2Baby Gala. Baby2Baby is a Los Angeles-based charity that collects new and gently worn baby clothes, toys, and other essentials and distributes them to needy families around the greater L.A. area. This year’s Gala was held in honor of Drew Barrymore, who recently announced her second pregnancy with husband Will Kopelman. Celebrity moms like Rachel Zoe, Jessica Alba, Nicole Ritchie, Jaime King not only came out to the silent auction to help raise money for distressed families, but Ritchie and Alba also serve as board members for the foundation. Alba’s company, The Honest Company, is a sponsor of Baby2Baby.

Baby2Baby was founded in 2006 by Kelly Patricof and Norah Weinstein who now serve as co-presidents of the foundation. According the official website, “Baby2Baby supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing for their children up to age 12. By distributing new and gently used items to over 50 non-profit organizations, including homeless and domestic violence shelters, Head Start programs and hospitals, Baby2Baby serves over 67,000 children each year.” Patricof and Weinstein’s first Baby2Baby gala, which featured a catered dinner prepared by famous chefs and a silent auction, successfully raised $1 million dollars. Hopefully this year’s gala exceeded the funds raised last year so more children can benefit from the foundation in 2014. Judging by the amount of celebrities who attended Saturday’s soiree, there’s a good chance that Baby2Baby will be able to expand their circle of partners and help more families in need!

It’s always heart-warming to see celebrities dedicate time and effort for important causes. Even though we’re not all big screen actors and actresses, many famous people are still moms and dads, first and foremost, and get involved because they know how crucial it is that babies and children have access to the basic necessities. Thanks to all those who attended the second annual gala, keep up the philanthropy!

Visit Baby2Baby’s official website if you’d like more information about donation services.
