Danah’s Recipe for Love

Danah’s Recipe for Love

My career and life on the road for the past 8 years has allowed me to meet the most amazing people from around the world. Golf has allowed me to travel accross America, Australia to Scotland, Taiwan to Canada, New Zealand to Mexico and so many other countries, all from which I’ve made new friends and reunited with old ones.  One of the coolest things I’ve collected over these years are recipes for a cook book I’ve been putting together to be able to pass down to my daughter.

Let’s take the United States for example.  The South has a much different palate than those in the Midwest and the West is different from the Northeast.   We can all become very complacent to our own spices and unique dishes but until you try a recipe or fruit or vegetable from a different region, you don’t know what you are missing. Now, regardless if you like sushi, rice and beans, steak, or tofu or not…one thing is for sure, there’s always ICE CREAM to be found.  That’s my true weakness!

Whether on the road or at home, eating healthy is very important.
I’m looking forward to sharing favorite recipes with my daughter and passing on my cookbook to her.

Danah’s Apprehensions

Danah’s Breastfeeding Apprehensions

I had more apprehension about breastfeeding than I did about the entire birth process. Some of the concerns I had were my daughter latching on properly, would I provide enough milk, and breast feeding in public or around family and friends. Needless to say, these are all very natural apprehensions. I think if you enjoy the process of being a mother and realize what a miracle your child truly is, all these fears go away. The time I get to spend with my daughter one-on-one is irreplaceable and I am truly blessed by her. Breast feeding is a very natural thing and I know my daughter will benefit from it in the future.

Danah on Pregnancy

Danah on Pregnancy

There’s a bit of an overwhelming feeling that comes over a woman at different stages of her pregnancy. There’s the “I don’t even feel pregnant and can do anything!” feeling, the “Oh my goodness, There’s another human being growing inside of me!” feeling, and the “Can I really breast feed? I’m so anxious!” feeling. All, I have been told, are perfectly normal, but it doesn’t help when you wake up in the middle of the night in an anxious state.

I have been extremely lucky and have felt great with my first pregnancy. I think most of it has to do with genetics and also being an athlete. My life revolves around a schedule, healthy diet, physical training, restful sleep, a calm mind and great coaches. Without all of these I wouldn’t be successful in my job, therefore I feel it’s going to make me a great mother. Of course we all have doubts in different areas of our lives, but it is no reason to doubt your ability to be an amazing parent.

I am so blessed to be surrounded with supportive family and friends, and so excited to begin this new chapter as a mom.
